Anonymous sourcing with reporters is an art form in and of itself. This is what got us into trouble in the run up to the Iraq war. Administration officials were able to insert supposed "solid intelligence" into the mainstream media. Whenever you read that "an anonymous administration official says...", know that there is an ulterior motive to what is being said... look for it, figure it out.
