Happy New Year... and a change in position from me on Iraq.

First off, I'd like to wish everyone a happy new year and I hope that 2006 brings everything that you wish for... including our troops home from Iraq.

Up until this point, I have consistently argued that President Bush should double down and add troops that are needed in Iraq to gain control of the security for that country.  The only other person I hear making the same argument is Senator John McCain.  The problem with adding more troops from an inside the administration perspective is that it would be a rebuff of Sec. of Defense Rumsfeld's strategy and that is the reason I believe why such a move isn't happening... Rumsfeld still is in control and a man with as big an ego as he has usually isn't up for admitting when he's wrong.  Nonetheless, from here on out, I believe that we should begin redeployment of our troops to the horizon, into neighboring friendly countries and TO AFGHANISTAN!  That is the war and country where our troops are needed!

So from John McCain to Jack Murtha, I shift my position due to the realization that Bush 2.0 won't.  And by the way, finally, my family member back from Iraq agrees with me.
