"Take the trash out on Friday evenings..."
You might have heard this term used in terms of the President... like someone in such and such a post is leaving to do such and such with their family but "taking the trash out on Friday" works for any and every politician or company you know.
Especially given the hyper-nature of our digital world, some of us might think that reporters and journalists work day and night, 24/7, but it just so happens that they get to take the weekend off too. Maybe not when World War V is starting but most weekends, they get time off. When the President, a politician or company announces bad news, if they can help it, they do it on Friday late in the afternoon after said journalist or reporter has already un-plugged and gone home for their weekend. The hope being that when Monday rolls around, there will be a whole new "thing" to cover and the news that the President, politician or company broke on Friday will in fact be OLD NEWS and pushed to page 8B of the metro section... moral of the story, see what's happening on Friday evenings so you don't miss it.
