And it isn't about BIG government vs. small government...
... to have the consistency and message management that the Republicans have while focusing on the idea behind 'the right size government'... I don't have much faith in the Dems since their message management has always been poor and they aren't afraid of disagreeing within their own party while the Repubs, usually resist.
One of the big problems with the 24 hour news bite cycle that we're in is that for any message from the Republicans or Democrats to get through it has to be short and to the extreme. Republicans want zero taxes while Democrats want un-imaginable taxes. Reds want to outlaw abortion, Blues want to kill babies in the third trimester. Reds want bazookas legal while Blues want every gun confiscated. We need to break this pattern... we need a President who WANTS to break this pattern.
