McCain the Democrat?
This is VERY interesting...
Now after our (McCain's) crushing defeat in South Carolina in 2000, I high tailed it out of politics, back to New York to hide in the world of corporate communications so I wasn't around to be a part of talk about McCain leaving the Republican party as either an Independent or Democrat but the story in TheHill.com linked to above is very interesting to say the least.
I will say this, I know that Senator McCain was crushed after South Carolina. He, like myself, was disgusted at the depths Rove and company would go to sully his reputation and family to win an election and it put a VERY bad taste in his mouth. Back then, if I heard these reports about his possible switching parties, I would have found them very plausible. Romney and the conservative right has a new arrow in it's arsenal against McCain... and given how things are looking, they're going to need it.
