Stimulus package passes Senate and heads to Bush...
...for his signature. I have to commend the Congress for working quickly and in a bi-partisan fashion to get this moved through BUT some economists think that this type of package is too little, too late. Bush 2.0 modus operandi is to wait as long as possible until admitting that something is going south... if they were a little more honest with themselves and the American people, maybe we could have cut this recession off at the pass.
Lastly, I'm against the rebate checks as part of this package being mailed out. I believe that we should put that $100 billion towards our debt in an effort to prop up our dollar. I find it hard to reconcile the fact that on the one hand government wants the American people to go out and spend these rebate checks by buying stuff while on the other hand, the people should be paying off their credit cards, putting it towards their mortgages or just saving it. Just doesn't make much sense to me...
