UPDATE: McCain's double talk on campaign public financing

Senator McCain has been taunting Senator Obama to stick to a pledge that he never made when it comes to the general election and accepting public financing for the general race.  The problem, and this might get a little wonky, is that McCain worked a deal with a bank to finance his primary campaign and then, if he didn't win the nomination, he would have paid the bank back by using public financing.  I'm not going to get into all of the details but TPM has a good run down here as well as The American Prospect here.

It'll be interesting to see if McCain continues this attack on Obama given this new information.  The Straight Talk Express seems to have been taking a few detours in this election cycle...

UPDATE: Obama responds with an article in USA Today.
