What an eye-opening article... you really should take a peek...
THIS is a fascinating article... it's written by the two lawyers who are defending the highest ranking Al Qaeda operative being tired at Gitmo. They do a very good job at separating the issues of should we or should we not torture away from the idea that we're creating these "kangaroo" courts that let's evidence be destroyed and the truth not be found... as they so eloquently put it:
"The American system of justice is founded on the idea that truth emerges from vigorous and informed debate. And if that debate cannot take place, if we cannot learn the facts and share them with others, the truth is only what the administration reports it to be. We hope it has not come to that."
When we lose sight of that, the terrorists win. Only when we are completely transparent with our democracy and rule of law when it comes to these issues with ourselves and the rest of the world, can we win the war on terror.
