I just don't get it...
If, as Bush 2.0 declared this morning, everything the telephone companies did in terms of intelligence gathering for the government IS LEGAL, then why put up such a stink about giving them immunity in a bill before Congress? If it's legal, all of the cases in the courts filed against the telecommunications companies will be thrown out. So why insist on the provision? I get the feeling this is just another example in a long list of examples of Bush 2.0 using his bully pulpit to lie to the American people... we've seen this game before.
