A couple more chinks in McCain's "Straight Talk Express" armor

It'll be interesting to see how McCain's campaign responds to Sam Stein's reporting at Huffingtonpost.com that he has an email that details the lengths to which McCain went to shield some of his Republican colleagues from the Abromoff investigation.  How can you call yourself someone who fights such corruption on the one hand but then not fully investigate and prosecute those who created and benefited from the corruption on the other?

On a separate note, McCain's lawyer's are basically telling the FEC to go screw and that he is able to opt back out of public financing whenever he damn well pleases.  Given that the chair of the FEC is Republican and that there are only two members on the committee (two short of a quorum), I'm not holding my breath that this gets resolved prior to November but it again goes to the point of saying one thing to Obama in public about accepting public financing but then gaming the system with an unethical way to obtain a bank loan to keep his campaign going.
