RE: Strategy moving forward - 3/8/08

Given that you were not able to put the "nail in the coffin" on Tuesday, and seeing that we've got six long weeks till PA, I have a few suggestions from a strategy perspective on how to get back on offense.

First, I believe you should take a page out of McCain's book and put this Rezko issue behind you once and for all by answering any and all questions, in a televised press conference, about that specific issue.  Once all questions are answered to the CHICAGO press' satisfaction, you can then pivot to Senator Clinton by acknowledging all of the other issues
(taxes, WH docs, Pres. Clinton's business dealings/how they could affect her White House) that she hasn't addressed and you personally have questions on.  With one presser, you cleanse yourself of Rezko while showing the American people that there are many more "outstanding issues" for Senator Clinton than yourself.

Secondly, I think you should get really specific on the stump about your idea of how politics should be run vs. the old way (Clinton and McCain's) of doing business.  By drawing these distinctions, you get to highlight your rather non-scandalous past and high road race vs. all the secrets (listed above) and low blows (bringing up drug use, questioning your religion, race division in S.C.) that Senator Clinton has engaged in.

Your campaign is starting to draw these distinctions but I believe the first, and most important step, is that presser to come fully clean about Rezko.... unless, of course, you're hiding something we don't already know.
