BREAKING: Wal-Mart hears Keith Olbermann and does the right thing
Don't know if you watch Countdown with Keith Olbermann or not but the last few nights Wal-Mart has landed on his "Worst Person in the World" list for going after the court settlement of a woman who was injured and had medical expenses paid for by Wal-Mart's health care plan which they wanted reimbursement for. Wal-Mart was in their legal right to go after that settlement but after Keith's (and others) call for a more sensible resolution, Wal-Mart has relented. Below is their official statement... I'll be watching Keith tonight to see how he responds. Bravo Wal-Mart for not doing what you HAD to do but for doing the RIGHT thing.
We wanted to understand the ongoing impact of any potential changes to the trust, and ensure that any action we take is in the best interests of our associates and their family members who participate in and contribute to our plan. We have decided to modify our plan to allow us more discretion for individual cases, and are in the final stages of working out the details.
Wal-Mart will not seek any reimbursement for the money already spent on Ms. Shank's care, and we will work with the family to ensure the remaining amounts in the trust can be used for her ongoing care.
We are sorry for any additional stress this has put on the Shank family.

I haven't seen this on Wal-Mart’s site yet but, it sounds like very good news. The sad part is they never would have rescinded on their attempt to get this disabled women’s money if ‘We the People’ had not made such an uproar. The other side of that is… it does show that we can take on a major corporation and win. Chalk up one for the good guys and humanity on this one!

why dont they kick in some of the 11 billion they made in profit last year? i am sure doubling her trust fund is a drop in the hat compared to what is happening down on wall street

This shows, the power, still belongs to the People. The Corporate sharks may swim as they like but they have to be careful who they eat!
