Legal minds comment on Yoo's torture memo
Over at Slate.com, they have a list of posts by legal scholars and lawyers who are commenting on John Yoo's memo from March of 2003 that gave Bush 2.0 "legal" footing to allow torture which was just released yesterday. It's kinda sad that Yoo is now teaching law the UCLA Berkeley... hopefully those students know who they're dealing with.
I will say this again, democracy is HARD. Following the rule of law is HARD. The framers didn't make it easy for a reason. But when the office of legal counsel in the Justice Department throws the constitution out the window, allowing and justifying torture becomes easy. Theory of Unitary Executive strikes again!
