The Army Times calls McCain out on his gaffe
When asked yesterday at a forum if he would shift combat troops from Iraq to Afghanistan if he were elected President, Senator McCain deferred to General Petraeus to make that decision... the only problem, as the Army Times points out, is that Afghanistan is not under the command of General Petraeus. When asked by the Senate Armed Services committee (which McCain is the ranking Republican on) last week if he would advise shifting troops from Iraq to Afghanistan, Petraeus said that such a decision is not his responsibility and that he is only responsible for the multi-national force in Iraq.
It's scary to hear how first Senator McCain can't discern between Shia and Sunni but now he doesn't even know who's in charge of Afghanistan.
