Another sobering report on PTSD

As most of you regular readers know, PTSD has affected a family member of mine after returning home from a tour in Iraq, so when I read today of another study/report that put the PTSD affected troops coming home from Iraq & Afghanistan at 300,000 (in addition to the 320,000 brain injuries), needless to say, I was shell shocked.  I knew that the figure was high but when you stare at the zeros coming at the end of that "3", it really puts it into perspective.

PTSD is the unseen injury of the war on terror and we, as a country, are responsible for giving these dedicated soldiers all the help we can for them to overcome this sort of injury.  Hope is not lost if the right treatment is administered when it comes to PTSD.  My family member is doing really well and getting on with his life and treatment has been the deciding factor in his path but we are fortunate as a family to be able to pay for his treatments and get him the best possible care... every soldier deserves the same.

Just as Bush 2.0 didn't plan for an occupation or anything after the initial invasion, they didn't plan for the wounded soldiers either... just take a look at Walter Reed.  This needs to change.
