"Choosing War: The Decision to Invade Iraq and Its Aftermath"

The above title is the title of a new report out yesterday that was written by the premiere military educational institution by Joseph Collins, a former aide to Sec. of Def. Rumsfeld.  The first sentence of the 48 page report reads: "Measured in blood and treasure, the war in Iraq has achieved the status of a major war and a major debacle."

The main stream media didn't mention a peep about this report in their newscasts last night so we have to leave it up to TPM, Rawstory and McClatchy to give us the reporting... take a look, but be forewarned, it isn't pretty.

A couple other choice quotes from the report:
"
No one as yet has calculated the costs of long-term veterans' benefits or the total impact on service personnel and material."

"Compounding all of these problems, our efforts there (in Iraq ) were designed to enhance U.S. national security, but they have become, at least temporarily, an incubator for terrorism and have emboldened Iran to expand its influence throughout the Middle East."
