McCain goes negative with Obama in fundraising letter

Will Thomas over at Huffpost is reporting that in a new fundraising letter, Senator McCain is using the endorsement of Senator Obama by a leader in Hamas as an attack against Obama.  Note that the letter doesn't mention the fact that when meeting with Jewish leaders in Philly two days ago, Senator Obama rebuked former President Carter for meeting with Hamas in Egypt this week.

I'd call this grasping at straws... are we going to be asking Castro or Ahmadinejad or Kim Jong-il who they would like to see in the White House and use those endorsements against the candidates too?  Given that McCain has repeatedly said that he's going to run a clean campaign, I at least thought that statement would remain "operable" till mid summer... but I guess desperate times call for desperate measures.
