McCain was for talking with Hammas before he was against it.
James Rubin's column today in the WashPost, he writes about an interview he did with McCain two years ago where McCain said that we had to deal with Hamas after they won their election (remember when the Dept. of State didn't see that coming? Condi was promoting democracy and Hamas won the election) and that Hamas wants "democracy" since "Fatah was not giving them that."
As Rubin points out, Hamas might have been rooting for the "old" McCain if he stuck around but unfortunately, the "new" McCain has taken his place after falling in line with Bush 2.0. But to push the guilt by association onto Obama, when Obama never said that we should be talking with Hamas unless they jettison their terrorist activities and vow to respect Israel, is the biggest flip flop so far of this campaign... unless you count McCain saying yesterday that he wants all combat troops out of Iraq by 2013. Just so you know, this was NOT how McCain operated when I worked for him back in the 2000 cycle.
