Scott McClellan's bombshell of a book

Even though Scott McClellan's (former press secretary for Bush 2.0) book doesn't hit the shelves till Monday, reporting on the book broke last night.  Here is the article in the Wall Street Journal that excerpts sections of the book that give you a real feel for how hard McClellan comes down on Bush 2.0 and the administration's tactics (Hi Karl).  It is worth the read to see how an insider who has taken his blinders off sees the inner workings of Bush 2.0's White House.

The reason that I added this post to the 2008 Election section of my site is that this shows how Bush 2.0 campaigned back in 2000 to change the way DC works and to stop the harsh partisanship and constant campaigning... now we know that such words coming out of GWB were just that, words with no action behind them.  What this does is open a door for Obama to grab that mantel and run with it as he campaigns through November.  By focusing on what Bush 2.0 campaigned on in 2000 and drawing the distinction between that campaign and how things turned out, Obama can explain how he's going to be different.  How he will follow through on those promises.  He's already started by not accepting PAC or lobbyist money and now, with McClellan's insider account of the disconnect between how Bush 2.0 campaigned vs. how he governed, Obama has an even wider door to push that message through.  For however much I yelled at the TV screen during your press briefings, I must say thank you Scott.

For a flashback and trip down memory lane, below is video of Scott in one of the more heated press briefings surrounding Ms. Valerie Plame.
