McClatchy newswire (who bought Knight Ridder) sets the record straight
On their McClatchy blog today, the reporters who were working for Knight Ridder (which was bought by McClatchy) at the time of the run up to the war in Iraq, comment on Scott McClellan's book with a reflection on how they reported the story at the time. As I blogged here during that time, they were the only outlet and reporters that I saw who called it like they saw it and who dissented from the general "pro-war" stance that the rest of the main stream media took in the run up to this disaster of a war.
Having had an inside look at the Neocons during the late 1990's, the war in Iraq smelled fishy to me from the start seeing as we still hadn't finished the job in Afghanistan and since Al Queda didn't have a connection with Saddam Hussein. At that time in the fall of 2002 I was specifically looking for anyone to offer a "devil's advocate" point of view... and these reporters did. Their blog post today that was initiated by McClellan's book is worth the read and let's please not forget this the next time we're being bamboozled into an unjust war.
