From Tony Schwartz's Daisy ad to 527's...

Seeing as my earlier post today was about 527 groups and how they are influencing the current political environment, I thought it would be right to mention the late Tony Schwartz, who died a week ago today, and who created "the daisy" ad for Lyndon Johnson in the 1964 Presidential campaign.  This ad is credited with being the beginning of the negative campaign ads in U.S. politics and it doesn't even mention Barry Goldwater by name.  Take a look and think to yourself, is this more hard hitting, less hard hitting or about the same as the political ads we've seen over the past few election cycles...
