www.jamesdobsondoesntspeakforme.com is a new site on the Internet created by a group of religious leaders (including Rev. Kirbyjon Caldwell who was a strong supporter of Bush 2.0 but now supports Obama) to combat Dobson's attacks against Obama. The site does a great job of laying Dobson's claims next to Obama's statements and lets the reader decide for themselves who they should believe. Again, the Internet is an outlet that continues to change the dynamics of politics, leveling the playing field. For more on the Dobson/Obama back and forth, Sara Kugler of the AP has the run down via Huffpost.
UPDATE: Frank Schaeffer, a former "evangelical right wing agitator" (his own words), and whose blog posts I have come to enjoy reading, weighs in on the Dobson/Obama smack down over at Huffpost... and he thinks Dobson just gave Obama the election. I don't completely agree but hearing that from someone who used to be "one of them" really piques my interest.

I listened to Dr. Dobson's broadcast on Tuesday and am amazed at Pastor Caldwell's reaction. Dr. Dobson has never been one to excerpt a speech such as Sen. Hussein's for personal gain nor to crucify the person making the speech. What I heard Sen. Hussein say made me cringe as well as very sad to think believers like Pastor Caldwell and Pastor T.D. Jakes would endorse a liar of the caliber and magnitude of Sen. Hussein.

Evan- First off, I was reluctant to "approve" your comment due to how you reference Senator Obama but I decided to do so because I wanted to express how much I disagree with your statement. What Obama was saying was that we shouldn't be basing our policy debates on religion because we are a pluralistic society that SHOULD be tolerant of all religions and beliefs. That's the problem with how Bush 2.0 has governed. There is a separation of church and state in the constitution for a reason. It's very disheartening to me that there are people out in the world like yourself who are not tolerant of other views if they don't fit into what you believe to be true. We should be embracing our differences, not exploiting them for political gain.

True enough, let's not inflame the discussions with a mischaracterization of the Senators name. I must ask, Where in the constitution do we find "separation of church and state?"
Secondly, must we be tolerant of religious zealotry that actively seeks our government's and our religions' destruction?

You are correct Jack, separation of church and state doesn't appear in the constitution... it was first mentioned by Jefferson in a letter in 1802 when he was reffering to the first amendment and then later used by the U.S. Supreme court in a number of decisions in the early 20th century. Thank you for keeping me on my toes.

I read an article posted at Time.com and also on Yahoo News, written by Amy Sullivan of Time Magazine about Obama choosing the Camp David Church as his family's faith home. I had not previously heard about James Dobson's attacks on Obama's comments and was very interested in Rev. Kirbyjon Caldwell's website JamesDobsonDoesntSpeakForMe.com
A hyperlink was provided in the Time article which was posted just 39 minutes before I read it. The link only produced a message that read "This Account has been suspended"
Can you tell me why it is no longer available?

I don't know why that site has been suspended... it is not our site, we just blogged about it at the time during the Presidential race.
