PTSD and another tragic story

Joseph Dwyer, a medic in the Army, was made famous by the picture shown below at the start of the Iraq war.  Upon his return to the states, PTSD haunted his life.  It's a tragic story of someone who gave so much, didn't ask for anything in return and didn't get the help that he needed to stay alive for his wife and daughter.  I know this isn't the kind of blog post you're hoping to read when you stop by here... and I wish I didn't have to write it... but I do and given how sad this story is, we should all be pushing our representatives in DC for proper testing and treatment of PTSD.  All soldiers are tough SOB's but even so, as sisters and mothers and brothers and fathers of soldiers, please notice the signs and get help before its too late.

I am glad you wrote an article on PTSD. This is something that runs deeper than most people think. Not only does it affect soldiers but also emergency responders. I am so glad you urged those, or their loved ones to seek help.

Thanks Ray... if you've read my blog for a while, you know that PTSD has hit close to home and is something that I feel is being neglected by the VA.  Only getting the awareness out there is going to help stem this tide...
