McCain is a Neocon
Many of my friends love to debate with me the fact that I once worked my heart out for John McCain and his presidential ambitions and now I'm going the other way by bashing everything he has been saying this election cycle... they call me schizophrenic. I understand the confusion but I keep going back to the fact that I don't recognize the McCain of 2008 vs. the McCain I knew back in 2000.
I'm not going to list the many instances where McCain has changed his position to shore up his conservative base but I do want to say that John McCain is a Neocon. He's trying to hide this fact from the voting public but when he's getting his foreign policy advice from the top Neocons who got us into a war of choice in Iraq based on ideology and is wishy/washy about what victory is in Iraq and how or when we will leave Iraq, I worry. Anyway, Zachary Roth of TPM does some reporting on McCain's top foreign policy advisor, Randy Scheunemann, and how Randy was at the forefront of pushing for the Iraq war and some of the most disasterous decisions after the invasion. All I can say is don't be fooled again.
