Obama's purple way forward on the energy debate

Nate, over at FiveThirtyEight.com, has a very interesting post up about how Obama could join the "Gang of 10" (5 D's and 5R's with a compromise energy bill) in the energy debate, make it a gang of 11 and really put the McCain and hi camp on the defensive. I agree with Nate's assesment of the situation should Obama add his name as a co-sponsor to the bill even though it pains me to offer up any of our coast line for oil drilling. That being said, the only way we are going to solve such large problems, like our energy situation, is to compromise to find a way forward.
