Sex Education is thrust to the forefront of the '08 campaign
Given the news out of the McCain campaign yesterday that Gov. Palin's teenage daughter is pregnant, sex education has been thrust to the forefront of the campaign issues likely to be spotlighted by the main stream press. Luckily for McCain, Gov. Palin shares his views that sex education shouldn't be taught in schools funded by the government and that only abstinence only education is the way to go. But even McCain is a little wishy washy on the issue given his need to appease the Republican base.
As you can imagine, I disagree. Here are a couple of my previous posts about sex ed: "Sex Education without the Education" and "My tax dollars going toward abstinence only education" -- should you want a fuller understanding of where I stand on the issue and why.
UPDATE: Ruth Marcus on RealClearPolitics.com throws her two cents into this ring... and I think she hits the nail on the head.
