Bush 2.0 hails McCain for what he smeared him with in 2000

After watching Bush 2.0 give his speech at the Republican convention last night, it seems that Sam Stein of Huffpost and I were thinking the same thing.  Bush 2.0 praised McCain for his POW service, his adopted daughter from Bangladesh, Bridget, and his "independent" stance as a Senator... what is striking is that Bush 2.0, Rove and their minions used the same three attributes of McCain to attack him in the 2000 Republican primary.  POW service?... "McCain might not be mentally fit to serve as President," they whispered.  Bridget McCain?... in a push poll people were asked, "Would you be more or less likely to vote for John McCain if you knew he has fathered an illigitamate black child?"  McCain's independent stances as a Senator?... "Is he really a Republican?" they asked.

Funny how just 8 years after these tactics sunk McCain's 2000 Presidential ambitions (and gave me reason to step away from the game), they flip those smears around as McCain's strengths... that's politics... and strange bedfellows indeed.
