Thoughts on McCain's acceptance speech

First off, the green screen was back for about the first ten minutes of the speech... didn't look good before and it didn't look good last night either.  It was actually a picture of a radom house (more like a mansion) that I felt didn't mean anything... the screen then went to blue for much of the rest of the speech.

UPDATE: Here is more information about that mansion and the green screen... interesting, very interesting.

UPDATE II: HERE is a readers comment from TPM which is spot on and HERE is the schools response (smack down) for a picture of it being used during McCain's speech without their permission.  This is getting weirder by the minute.

Also, Afghanistan wasn't mentioned once by McCain... not once... so that means it wasn't mentioned during the WHOLE convention... but mention of "the surge"?... you bet ya.

I came away from the speech feeling that it could have been written for Obama by a second year political science major in a community college.  If this is how camp McCain thinks they are going to take some of the "change" argument from Obama, I think they're very mistaken.  And there was no mention of any specifics... McCain certainly talked about how much needs to change but didn't give any specifics of what those changes would actually be or look like.  He did good by distancing himself from Bush 2.0 and the policies of the last eight years on the one hand but on the other, McCain's prescription is more of the same... just didn't seem to compute.

Lastly, McCain was interrupted a number of times by protesters... I know that there is freedom of speech in the country and I fully support that right but give the man his due and let him speak!  There will be more than enough time to express your views without low blows and those disruptions were low blows.
