A point of view on Alaska... and a good veto by Gov. Palin
After writing my last post about Palin sittin' in a tree with Cheney, I came accross THIS ARTICLE by Jim Albrecht at Slate.com. Jim is from Alaska and explains how every family up there is just a "unique" as Sarah Palin's. He describes a community that doesn't shun people with different ideologies and the article has given me some hope for Sarah Palin.
She actually vetoed a bill from the legislature that wanted to restrict benefits for same sex couples after the Alaskan Supreme Court ruled that same sex couples had a right to those benefits. Even though Palin agreed with the legislation, she vetoed it anyway because in her words, "Signing this bill would be in direct violation of my oath of office." Good on ya girl... she didn't let her personal ideology get in the way of how she governed... and that's a BIG difference between her and Darth Cheney.
