Vlog post 16: PTSD strikes close to home
My brother came home from Iraq without a scratch on him but it became
clear pretty quick that all was not right. Post Traumatic Stress
Disorder (PTSD) followed him back home... and this is why helping veterans with PTSD is a cause that's close to my heart.

Thanks for putting the spotlight on this issue. As someone who does not know anyone personally with PTSD nor anyone who has served in Iraq for that matter, first-hand accounts really go a long way to bringing this issue home.
It's unfortunate that this casualty-type is not focussed on more. But I do believe that it is much more in focus than it was say, after WWII or Vietnam. Our society is so much more in tuned to mental disorders more so now than at any other point in our history. Let's hope (and do something about it) that the government and society as a whole really puts forth an appropriate effort to help treat this injury like we would any physical injury.
I've never served in the military or experienced any traumatic events first-hand (knock on wood), so I can't say I fully understand how hard it must be to acclimate yourself back into this society after going through that. But I can imagine it. And I imagine that if you spend a year or longer in a war zone, coming home and dealing with all the petty issues we deal with (and blow out of proportion) would have to be extremely infuriating and frustrating. Let's hope that the next administration makes this issue a top priority.
Thank you for sharing your brother's experiences with us and we honor his service for our country.
